Not strictly photography related, but valuable all the same. Seth Godin, 'New' Marketer extraordinaire, has a great post over on his blog about the value of genuine expressions of kindness and art.
What I got out of this is that your photography doesn't need to fit some sort of pre-conceived notion to be popular or well received. If it's a genuine expression of the connection between you and your subject matter, maybe that's enough...
